In a period from 16th to 19th of December 2024, ATRAC held an IMO OPRC level 2 course for the members of Croatian MRCC. During this four-day course, members of the MRCC were introduced to the topic of accidental marine pollution with oils, as well as how to respond to them and be prepared for them.

Through this course, attendees were taught about response operations planning, oil characteristics and its effects on human health and safety, existing equipment and methods of response, as well as effects of oil on the environment and economy. On the last day of this course, ATRAC prepared a ‘table-top’ exercise during which the attendees used a VR tool for aerial surveillance of an oil spill that helped them create a fitting response plan for the given scenario. Course was closed with a discussion about the held exercise.
