This week, ATRAC participated in the 16th Meeting of the Focal Points of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), held in Malta.

The event gathered over 80 participants from Mediterranean countries, regional organizations, and UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention Partners, all committed to advancing our collective efforts in marine pollution prevention and response.

For ATRAC, this was also an opportunity to renew our Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for another two years. With this MoU, ATRAC continues to be part of the Mediterranean Assistance Unit (MAU), providing:
– Remote technical advice from our expert personnel in case of a marine pollution emergency (without mobilization, if requested), and/or
– Support in facilitating the onsite mobilization of ATRAC’s experts.

Beyond MAU membership, the MoU also aims to ensure close coordination between REMPEC and ATRAC on all matters of common interest, strengthening collaboration in the Mediterranean region.
