From 02 to 05 of October 2017, the Days of Maritime Affairs and the First international conference “Adriatic 2017 – Protection of the Adriatic Sea from pollution from ships” were held in Split.
The thematic week dedicated to the protection of the sea was organized by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia. The Conference was attended by representatives of the aforementioned Ministry, of Coastal Counties and members of the County Operational Centres of Croatia, and all the key institutions involved in the system of marine and sea pollution protection. There were also representatives of European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF), Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) and Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM), along with numerous guests from Croatia and neighbouring Adriatic countries.
Within the Conference, ATRAC held a presentation and discussion on the revision of the National Contingency Plan, in front of all the members directly involved in the marine pollution response system. This workshop was a useful base for drawing a new Plan that is expected to be adopted next year.
