Two-day training course called „Intervention management in case of an oil spill“ was organized on February 21 – 22 in ATRAC’s premises. Education programme, developed for all senior officials involved in planning for or managing the response to oil spills, was mainly based on IMO OPRC Level 3 course model. Besides national Senior Management Personnel, other participants included all croatian coastal County Operational Centre on-scene commanders (harbour masters).

The goal of this type of training programme was to give a complete overview of all the available response strategies and techniques to the management personnel, in order to improve their efficacy in planning and managing response measures, but also to anticipate other possible problems arrising from different cases of oil spills.

In the course of education, ATRAC conducted a table-top exercise for the attendants, with the emphasis on procedures and response strategies and organization of preparedness and response system sin case of accidental marine pollution.
