Mediterranean Oil Industry Group (MOIG), to which ATRAC is a technical partner from April 2018, organized a regional workshop on “Building an effective National and Regional Preparedness and Response Capacity” in conjunction with Oil Spill Response Equipment Demonstration.

The workshop took place in Istanbul, Turkey, under the auspices of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of the Republic of Turkey and in cooperation with Turkish Petroleum and MEKE Marine, MOIG members.

The event gathered representatives from ministries, oil&gas industry, equipment manufacturers, responders, training centres, as well as international organizations, universities, ports, service providers and consulting companies.

The main objectives of this workshop were to reinforce and develop sub-regional contingency plans, to enhance national and regional coordination capacity, to share information, lessons learned and best practices of the previous exercises as well as to stay abreast of the newest technologies and benefit from responders, manufacturers and academics technical expertise.

ATRAC delivered a presentation on the subject of preparedness and response system in the Adriatic, cooperation between Adriatic coastal countries and future goal and challenges that lay ahead of us while responding to oil spills in this part of the Mediterranean.
