Trainings within the ‘NAMIRS’ Project held in Koper
In the week between the 22nd and 26th of May, 2023, ATRAC held two training courses within the ‘NAMIRS’ Project. These training courses were held in Koper, Slovenia.
The first training course’s theme was ‘Oiled Shoreline Clean-up’ and it was two days long, whereas the second course was called ‘At Sea Response’ and it lasted three days. The participants of ‘Oiled Shoreline Clean-up’ training course were from a number of organisations (DOPPS – Birdlife Slovenia, Ankaran County, VPG Drava Ptuj d.o.o., DRSV, MU Istra), and some of the topics were: Principles of Incident Management – Field Perspective, Shoreline Types and Sensitivity, and Shoreline Clean-up Techniques. The second training course, ‘At Sea Response’, was attended by response crew personnel (URSZR, GBK, URSP, Reco Koper, DRSV, REŠCZ and Civil Protection of Slovenia). Some of the topics that were within this course are: Sources and Impacts of Oil Spills, Overview of Contingency Planning and Management, Use of Oil Spill Forecasting Models and Use of Dispersants. On the last day of training, ATRAC organised a ‘Table top’ exercise in which the training participants had a task of responding to an oil spill scenario that happened at the border of Croatian and Slovenian sea borders.
These training courses were concluded with a successfully done exercise.
