Course held in Durres, Albania
From October 21 to 23, 2025, ATRAC conducted a training course as part of the EU project “Capacity enhancing of the Albanian marine pollution preparedness and response system.”
The course was held at IMOC in Durrës, and the participants were representatives of various institutions responsible for marine management and activities related to preparedness and response to accidental marine pollution.
Throughout this three-day course, participants were introduced to various topics such as “Overview of spill response”, “Environmental sensitivity and impacts”, “Operations planning” and “Introduction to wildlife response”.
During the course, several scenarios were presented to participants, who were tasked with discussing and presenting the decisions they would make if faced with such situations. With the knowledge and materials gained, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a table-top exercise that ATRAC will organize and conduct in Durrës at the beginning of next year, in order to provide a more realistic experience of participating in an actual oil spill response operation.
