Training course in Dubrovnik

Training course on the subject of “Accidental Marine Pollution” was held by ATRAC in Dubrovnik from 24 – 25 April 2019.

The participants came from County Port Authority of Dubrovnik and Korčula, Port Authority of Ploče and Fire Department of Municipality of Trpanj.

On the first day of education, students were introduced to oil spill properties and behavior, learned about the possible environmental and economical impacts of oil spill, spill assessment and initial response, including health & safety aspects. The second day was focused on different response methods and equipment used during oil spills.

Considering the increased passenger traffic and a significant number of cruise ships that visit Dubrovnik each season, Port of Dubrovnik is one of the areas of greatest risk of oil pollution in Croatian part of the Adriatic. Therefore, this education is considered to be very useful and ATRAC expects to strengthen cooperation with port authorities of Dubrovnik – Neretva County in the near future.
