Last training within the PEPSEA Project
The last of the five planned trainings within the project PEPSEA – Protecting the Enclosed Parts of the Sea in the Adriatic from Pollution, ATRAC delivered in Šibenik from 20 – 21.04.2022. The training was attended by members of the County Operations Center of Šibenik-Knin County, members of voluntary fire brigades from the county, Civil Protection, Public Institution “Priroda” and the Port Authority. On the second day of the training, a demonstration of the equipment purchased as part of the project was held, namely skimmers, generators, various types of dams, miniwashes and protective equipment. All equipment will be given to the Fire Brigade of Šibenik-Knin County and the Port Authority for further use. The training ended with a tour of the pilot site by boat. As a pilot location, Šibenik-Knin County chose St Anthony’s Channel, which is a unique estuary of the Krka River, protected on several grounds as a Significant Landscape and NATURA 2000 under the Nature Protection Act, and recently as a UNESCO buffer zone of the Fortress of St. Nicholas.
