Contingency Planning
The most important factor determining efficacy of an oil spill response is the existence of reliable local, area/regional and national preparedness and response systems, including administrative organization, educated personnel, basic equipment and, especially, contingency plans in case of accidental marine pollution.
ATRAC’s roles and objectives include, among others, helping the Adriatic countries and their territorial divisions in developing local/regional and national preparedness and response systems and contingency plans. One of ATRAC’s most important activity is providing, upon request, that sort of help to local, regional and national authorities.
ATRAC also helps local, regional and national authorities effectively conduct international regulations governing preparedness for and response to incidents resulting in marine pollution.
